Flat panel displays comprise 95% of our television installations. They can be placed discretely, made to provide multiple functions, and have finally reached an acceptable price/performance point (instead of being techno-jewelry).Generally, up to a 37" widescreen TV will be LCD based, over 45" will be Plasma, and the crossover point will be 42"- with Plasmas having a slight dollar advantage at 42". The quality of manufacture of either type of display far outweighs any theoretical advantage one might have over the other. Burn in and Plasma life issues are myth. A well-made LCD has good brightness off to the sides.
Hiding a flat panel is easy. The televisions can be wedged into bookcases or placed in cabinets for a simple, unassuming appearance. Flat panels can be mounted an inch from the wall, or on flexible arms that bend and extend into a variety of poses. As a result, it is quite easy to incorporate a flat panel television into a pre-existing decoration scheme, without disrupting the overall effect.
